Episode F01 DVD's Arrive

My shipment of DVDs from Cinemanational have arrived and boy are they impressive! It looks like they pulled out all the stops and gave Ivory Bastards the classy presentation it has long deserved. The picture quality is not ideal, but it is the best I have seen. The big surprise is that the presentation in in 1.85 widescreen. I was not expecting that! It was rumored that the final series was shot in widescreen by some forward-thinking DP, but in 1972 this would have been unheard of! Read my in-depth nerdalysis here.

DVD Episode F01 of Ivory Bastards Finally Available!!!!

I never thought this day would come, but CinemaNational has released episode F01 of Ivory Bastards on DVD! Click here to buy! Who knows why they chose this episode for the first to release. I think it's a pretty weak one. However, it looks like they found a copy of the dubbed version from when Guido K. Schultz tried to sell the series in the U.S. And judging from the stills on the website, it's much better quality than the VHS dubs that are floating around! This is exciting. I just hope they can generate enough sales to carry on restoing further episodes. I'm buying 50 so maybe that will tip the balance. I engourage all fans to do the same!!!!!!!!!

I finally managed to find someone to transribe the bio of Guido K. Schultz from the book called Exploitation Legends, Past and Present that I found in the library sale. It's fascinating, and a little sad. Find it here.

New Photo and Bio for Victor Luis Chavez

I don't know where they got this but a good friend on myspace got me a copy of the bio for the man himself Victor Luis Chavez IN ENGLISH!!! Also they got me the best photo I seen yet of the reclusive writer-director. It's a small little jpeg but I tried to clean it up a little in gimpshop. Its there on the left. I don't understand where all this new material is coming from. I guess rumors of a new release from distribution company CinemaNational may not be as unfounded as they seemed. TAKE A LOOK!

Rumors on the Internets

There are some rumors floating around that Ivory Bastards is going to be released on DVD right here in the US of the A's. I don't know how much cred to give them, but they say indie film distributor CinemaNational has found some complete copies and are going to release them some time in 2007. Time will tell.
